Freedom to Change
If you look back on your life ten years ago, you might see how different things are now – even more than you would have ever imagined. Some things also remained the same, of course, but change is always present. It’s the only thing that’s constant in life.

We asked some of our employees to share where they were ten years ago; who they were, what they were doing, what they dreamt of achieving. Here are a few of the answers that showed us how much can happen in 10 years.

“I was in transition to self-discovery. That year, I ended a 7-year relationship. I used to align my plans with this man with whom I have spent the last parts of my late adolescence. I guess I was too naïve to differentiate true love from an ideal one, much so, know what self-love is. All I dreamt was to be with the one I love.”
Present
“A lot has changed in the last ten years. I met my husband two years after that breakup but not without rediscovering knowing myself fully. My husband told me the way I love myself is ‘contagious’.
I am now in my happy place where my dream for myself ten years ago came true. I am with the people who love me: A son who sees me as his world, a husband who accepts me as I am, myself who strives for improvement. I know that I am capable of loving another human being because I know how to love myself, deeply and unconditionally.”

“I was in college, reading Young Adult books along with the required classic books we were asked to read, examine, and write no less than 3 pages of analysis. I didn’t have any dreams. I had yet to figure out the next step once I graduated. I was simply living one step at a time”
Present
“I became more independent, mature, and insightful. As a C&D associate, I dream of thriving into a better writer than I am now.”

“I was a volunteer nurse here in Roxas City but then I decided to switch careers. Things were tough, I had to earn money for myself and y family. I had no plans of going abroad so I just thought of a way to earn a higher compensation while being here in the Philippines. That’s why I chose a BPO company. I decided to apply at Convergys Corp in Bacolod City. I had no further dreams for myself 10 years ago, all I was thinking was just to earn money and enjoy life.”
Present
“I never imagined that I was going to enjoy a life in the BPO industry. I learned a lot of things that molded me more as a person and it even molded my character. I learned to be more independent and to become stronger in every way. I was away from my family for a lot of years since I had to stay in Manila to pursue my BPO career and handled healthcare accounts successfully. I am so grateful that there is now a BPO company that handles healthcare in Roxas City. I no longer have to go somewhere just to be in a kind of job that I love while earning a competitive salary. Xilium is truly a blessing to me in every way.”

“I was just starting in Manila. Worked several jobs because all I wanted at that time was to become a cabin crew with Philippine Airlines, but due to personal reasons I had to give up that dream and value the dream that was given to me.”
Present
“Priorities changed. What I have in my hands right now is the life of my son. I didn’t know that giving up my childhood dreams to dream bigger for my son was much more life-fulfilling. My dream right now is to provide a home for my son where both I and my husband have that sense of stability.”
